Why I love this part:
Well, I started playing Brad Majors because that was the role that they needed filled. I also played Brad Majors because the director felt that I was best suited for that role. Since then, the character has grown on me. So much so that I don't ever think of playing other characters.
What made me want to perform in this show?
My friend Mikel (Rocky name is Fence Post) brought me to the show in August. I went through the devirginization process like everyone else. I was given the Rocky name Abnermality. (This was back in the day when everyone received Rocky names.) I watched and very much enjoyed the movie
and the performance on stage and you can't forget about the ad-lines. I spent a few weeks learning the ad-lines and the second time that I showed up I started bringing my large flashlight because they didn't have a spotlight. After a couple of weeks, the Director approached me about performing in the cast. The thought of getting the opportunity to get further involved in the show was exciting. I couldn't pass it up. I just had to perform for the virgins that I once was.
Advice I'd give to someone just starting out:
Spend as much time as you need to learn the part the best you can. Don't hesitate to ask others to help you learn your role. Stay relaxed while performing. You'll do a much better job. Remember that you're an actor playing a role not an actor playing an actor playing a role. Ex.
You're you playing Brad Majors not you playing Barry Bostwick playing Brad Majors. Add a little of yourself to the role to give it more flavor. No one plays the same role the same way. You shouldn't be any different. Once you've learned the role the best that you can, then you can relax and start having fun with it.
Other:
When I was devirginized, I was standing next to another virgin. The MC said, "This is Neal and Bob. It's not their name. It's their hobby... Naw. We have too many of those. I'm gonna name you (him) Homer and you (me) Abner. Homer-Sexual and Abner-Mality. The rest was history.
